On June 8, 2008, WLCFS officially broke ground in Hartford, WI, to begin construction on its new senior living facility.  Although the service itself had to be held indoors at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church due to inclement weather, the rain stopped long enough to allow a ceremonial breaking of the ground on the construction site.

Board Chairman David Nommensen welcomes those gathered in celebration.

Rev. James Mattek, CEO of WLCFS,
offers a devotion based on Psalm 127:1.

Despite poor weather, a number of WLCFS supporters
came out to witness the historic event.

Rhoda Wolle led the gathering with the hymn "To God Be the Glory."

Mrs. Sue Mattek, past WLCFS Executive Directors Rev. E.F. Lehninger and Rev. Robert Michel, and Board members David Nommensen and Rev. James Kleist listen to the devotion.

Those ready to dig include past Executive Director Rev. Robert Michel, past Executive Director  Rev. E.F. Lehninger,
WLCFS CEO Rev. James Mattek, WLCFS Board of Directors Vice Chairman Rev. James Kleist,
WLCFS Board of Directors Chairman Mr. David Nommensen, and Catalyst Construction President Mr. Matt Burow.

Despite inclement weather, the rain stopped just in time for ground to be broken
on the construction site of the new senior living facility in Hartford.

The first shovels of dirt are overturned, officially signaling the beginning of construction.

Board members joining the groundbreaking crew include (l to r): Mr. Allen Heckendorf,
Mr. Don Weltzien, and City of Hartford Planning Commission member, Mr. Wayne Rusniak.
