Christian Family Counseling offers individual, group, and family counseling services. After an initial evaluation, the counselor and client(s) establish and agree on goals for the counseling process. The number of sessions needed varies by client and the nature of the problem. The initial therapy session may last up to 1½ hours to allow for a complete assessment of the problem. Follow-up sessions typically last for 50 minutes (individuals) or 90 minutes (groups or families) and are scheduled once per week. As progress is made, the time between sessions is increased. It is important to arrive on time for your appointment as the fee will not be reduced if you are late.
Evaluations
A psychological evaluation is performed by a licensed psychologist when a problem is noticed and the cause needs to be determined. An evaluation is useful in understanding and evaluating aspects of personality and problems with living. Common reasons for an evaluation are behavior problems, mood problems, or inability to fulfill expected responsibilities. Generally, a full battery of psychological tests can take several hours to administer. The results of the psychological tests are combined with information from an interview to more fully understand the individual within the context of his or her life. However, the goal is not merely to understand the individual, but rather to develop answers to questions and facilitate treatment planning.
