Member Assistance Program--Fee Structure

The fees for the services provided by the organization through the Member Assistance Program are provided by the organization. Individual members who receive the services cannot be required to pay for the services they received due to state laws. Counseling services received through this program are not eligible for insurance reimbursement. The fees are solely the responsibility of the organization. The exact fees will depend on which services are desired and how the organization wishes to use the services.

Most organizations choose not to widely advertise the services to members due to limited funding. The pastor or principal is usually identified as a gatekeeper and the one who refers members into the program. This approach helps the organization monitor how many services are being used and ensures proper collaboration with the pastor or principal. However, other organizations have chosen to make the services available to members without a referral. The differing approaches used by an organization, along with the particular needs of the members, account for a wide range of annual fees from $700 to over $15,000.

Counseling and consultation services are purchased in blocks of at least 10 hours. Counseling sessions are one hour in length. Participating organizations desiring counseling services are required to sign a Member Assistance Program agreement for a period of at least one year and begin by purchasing at least 10 hours of service time. The sessions purchased by an organization will carry over to another contracted year.

Organizations can purchase additional hours of service in blocks of at least 10 hours as needed throughout the term of the agreement. There is also a one-time setup fee that ranges from $200 to $400, depending on the size of the organization. Fees for crisis response and educational presentations are $85 per hour (plus expenses if services are on site) and can be purchased at any time throughout the term of the agreement as needed. There is no minimum purchase requirement.
