Member Assistance Program--Services
Listed below are available services through the Member Assistance Program.
An organization can select one or more services they'd like to offer to their members based on their needs and available budget.
Counseling
Short-term counseling is available for members of participating organizations. Counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults can address common mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, marital discord, parenting, stress, and other issues. Counselors are licensed mental health professionals, each with specific areas of expertise and training. Counseling is available through telephone, in person at one of our offices in Wisconsin, or by live, interactive video conferencing.

Consultation
The staff members at a church, school, or other organization are the frontline sources of assistance and the people who have the greatest opportunity to recognize individual, marital, or family problems. Consultation services are available to staff when they wish to discuss specific concerns being observed or make a referral for services. Consultation can also be used by pastoral counselors who wish to discuss specific counseling situations and receive feedback from a professional counselor on the approaches that have been used to help the member resolve challenges and gain insight into additional approaches or resources that might be of benefit to the member.
Education
Educational seminars are available to groups within an organization such as faculties, parent groups, or other groups within a congregation or school. Seminars vary in length and are offered on site as well as through video conferencing. Some on-site seminars are not available outside the Milwaukee/Appleton, WI areas. Seminars offered by video are available to congregations equipped with sufficient Internet connectivity as well as a projector or large screen for larger groups.
Topics may include the following:
• Managing Stress and Anxiety
• Peer Pressure: Saying No in a Yes Culture
• The Healthy Christian Family
• Discipline in the Christian Home
• Setting Boundaries for Children
• Dealing with Depression
Additional seminar topics are listed here.
Crisis Response
In the event of a crisis situation or major event that impacts the organization or occurs at the organization (i.e., fire or tornado, loss of life), participating organizations can activate the crisis response service. MAP counselors are able to provide individual crisis counseling and provide support and consultation to the organization during or immediately following a traumatic event.
Crisis counseling can be available to members by video at the organization. Some crisis events may warrant on-site crisis response. MAP counselors are available to respond on site within the Milwaukee/Appleton, WI areas. If an on-site response is warranted in an organization outside the Milwaukee/Appleton areas, MAP counselors will offer referral options in the local area.
Career Counseling (coming in May 2010)
With the economic downturn in the country, many organizations have requested career counseling services through the Member Assistance Program. Organizations are significantly impacted when members lose employment and they'd like to provide practical assistance to those in need. Coming in May 2010, career counseling services will be available to the members of participating organizations. The career services will be limited to three sessions and focus on helping the member establish a plan to move forward and find new employment. Information on resume writing, networking, general job search approaches, and interviewing will be shared. The career counseling service will provide an initial framework for moving forward and can be provided by phone, e-mail, and video.
