Rehabilitation and Therapy Services at
Wisconsin Lutheran Care Center
Rehabilitation services at Wisconsin Lutheran Care Center are provided by Rehab Care. The team from Rehab Care consists of physical, occupational, and speech therapists, who work with each resident and his or her family. Rehabilitation gives individuals who have experienced debilitating illness or injury both the opportunity and hope for restoring their functional independence.
It is the mission of the rehabilitation staff to help residents return to their optimum level of function,
in a home-like environment, so that they may have a better quality of life.
Because each person's needs are unique, treatment is individualized based on the resident's physical limitations, abilities, and goals for recovery.
Definitions of therapies
Physical therapy focuses on improving the mobility of the person receiving treatment. Therapy is also used to decrease pain and improve strength, endurance, balance, and range of motion.
Occupational therapy helps residents become more self-sufficient by teaching them new ways to perform the daily activities of life, like making breakfast, dressing, or getting into a car. A home evaluation is conducted before the resident leaves the facility to assess safety issues.
Speech therapy evaluates and treats residents for hearing, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. The focus of speech therapy is on improving speech-language expression, comprehension, oral motor skills for accurate speech production, and strategies for safe eating.
